Monie Love, Ambassador of The Image Initiative, Inc.®

Longtime conference facilitator and Native Tongues pioneer to champion literacy, self-expression, and leadership for girls and young women.

The Image Initiative, Inc. is proud to announce that hip hop icon Monie Love has been named an official Ambassador of the organization. Monie Love has spent her career telling women and girls to stand tall in who they are. She lends that message and her platform to a new generation of young women in Syracuse. In this high-visibility role, she will advocate for our mission to empower, educate, and elevate girls and young women through mentorship, literacy, leadership development, and enrichment programming.

“I am honored and pleased to be named Ambassador of such an important and dear to my heart organization. I am still the 18 year old girl at heart, who co-wrote the women’s anthem ‘ Ladies First’ with Queen Latifah, and as such, I wish to continue to uphold and instill this mindset in our young ladies as they grow, progress, and develop into prospering adults”, said Monie Love.

The appointment builds on a strong existing relationship. Monie Love has been part of the Sisters Empowering Sisters (SES) ® Conference from 2023 to 2026, where she led writing and self-expression workshops for young women. An English major and accomplished communicator, she brings a voice that fits our focus on literacy, confidence building, and authentic storytelling.

“We could not be more appreciative and excited to have Monie Love join us on this journey to empower young women. From Monie’s first experience at the conference to her continuous commitment over the years, her role as an Ambassador only magnifies her dedication to this work. Our young women have stories to tell and Monie provides a platform for their expression in a way that only she can”, added Nicole Watkins, Founder, The Image Initiative, Inc.

As Ambassador, Monie Love will take part in select conference activities, lead and support writing, literacy, and creative expression initiatives, lend her name and voice to public awareness efforts, and offer thought leadership on education, empowerment, and legacy.
